Welsh government to continue automation scheme for pharmacies

The Welsh government has recently announced that community pharmacy contractors can now apply for a £20,000 grant to install automated systems at their premises.

Indeed, after witnessing the popularity of the automated systems scheme of 2020/21, the Welsh government has decided to continue it for a second year. With this scheme, pharmacies are able to apply for a share of £200,000 allocated to benefit from automated systems.

Last year, pharmacies that were awarded a share of the government’s budget had the opportunity to test alternative automated processes and to demonstrate the proposed benefits to their particular business and local community. Hence, in the long term, this should help companies achieve efficiencies and ensure an improved patient experience.

It was reported that pharmacies have until May 28 to submit their applications.
