It was recently announced that Trainline would be welcoming Milena Nikolic as its new chief technology officer to lead the company’s innovation strategy and tech vision.
As former software director of Google Play for the past 12 years, Milena Nikolic is a software engineer with experience in system design mobile services, software distribution, and technical leadership. She has also led the engineering teams in charge of app distribution and developer experience.
Nikolic will be focusing on helping the rail industry leverage the Trainline platform in order to better serve its customer needs and accelerate growth in passenger numbers.
The technology team at Trainline consists of around 300 travel tech specialists working on 300 product releases each week. Since the pandemic, the company has increased the use of digital tickets, leading to the development of more products and features. Hence, this ongoing software development helps improve customer experience as well as make train travel more affordable and easier.
Among some of its new products, Trainline introduced Crowd Alerts, a system using crowdsourced data to enable the community to inform others of the busiest parts of the train, and SplitSave, a system that finds combinations of tickets via “split ticketing” to help customers save money. Moreover, the company has also released digital railcards and developed further automation for its refund process, allowing customers more freedom in their accounts and bookings.
