Tiktok has recently announced a new feature on its app that will be able to detect photosensitive content and warn users who suffer from epilepsy.
The company had first started to label videos with such effects and are now ready to introduce a Skip All option that will allow people to skip these videos or not show them at all in the future. By introducing this algorithm, Tiktok wants to make its platform accessible to everyone.
This comes after the UK’s Epilepsy Society showed concerns about the harmful content of the app such as strobe video filters and seizure-challenge trends. The charity widely condemned these trends. When TikTok announced its new feature, the charity was very pleased with the steps taken by the app to make its platform safe for everyone and now hopes that other social media platforms would do the same to protect their users.
