It has been reported that the University of Central Lancashire in Preston has been targeted by a cyber-attack last week.
Indeed, the Lancashire University is the next one in a series of attacks conducted on University in the United Kingdom, including the University of the Highlands and Islands in Scotland and Queen’s University in Belfast.
The university stated that the hack had an impact on remote-working students, who found themselves unable to submit assignments. Fortunately, the issue was resolved within hours and no data was lost.
As a precautionary measure, the university suspended access to some of its systems.
The National Cyber Security Centre has then started an investigation, but, as of now, the government organization, a division of GCHQ, is still unable to confirm if the attacks were linked.
