“Solving The Trillion Dollar Problem” Splunk@Murex. Developing Dashboard Analytics for Performance Testing and Development

Performance analysis on financial software is massively complex and challenging. This is the story of how Murex started to use Splunk to help test and debug performance issues.

A success story is one of the world’s largest “Clearing House” that clears a trillion dollars a day.

Before Splunk, we had millions and millions of timings logs, the problem was displaying them quickly so they are usable for testers and developers. When we were able too dynamically graph this data with Splunk the analysis became much quicker. The turnaround time decreased for issues resolution and the solution was a great success.

Robert Lynch is the head of Splunk@Murex and performance test manager (Murex is a world leader in trading platforms and Splunk is a big data tool). Robert is the winner of the 2017 “Splunk Ninja” global revolution award.

He has spent 14 years investigating non-functional mission critical problems for some of the largest financial institutions. He introduced Splunk in 2014 because the current tools were inadequate for performance testing. Financial institutions produce lots of data and knowing how to investigate a problem quickly is essential for performance testing and development.
