Dan Smart
Test Engineering Lead

I started my testing journey years ago, more years than I care to think about.  My first testing role was in an engineering company which configured computer systems for pipeline monitoring.  There I learned the basics of testing and automated testing.  After that, I was hooked.  I moved on and grew my technical skills.  Over the next years, I worked in a diverse range of industries and many aspects of testing from acceptance to automation to ops to security.

Currently, I’m at BookingGo as a Test Engineering Lead working with teams across the web application coaching & guiding both testers & developers to deliver a quality product in a timely manner.

Outside of testing, I have a wild enthusiasm for Python (the coding language), Security Testing (especially left-shifting ownership and responsibility back into the teams), and crazy-loud shirts.

Testing for Microservices, New Pyramids for a New Generation

As BookingGo (formerly moves toward the new generation of software, we are ever embracing the microservices style of development.  While this is a bit more clear cut for the developer side of things, what does this mean for the tester side of things?  We, the Test Team Leadership, have reshaped and redefined the testing pyramids to give better direction for, not only the testers, but for the developments teams in terms of testing requirements, automation, and, even, left-shifting the testing effort.
