Costly concerns over Vodafone’s international roaming charges

Retail

After the UK’s communications regulator Ofcom raised concerns over Vodafone’s international charges, thousands of the company’s customers have been told they are able to finish their contracts early.

In April, Vodafone told its customers via text message that it will be introducing new international roaming charges for 60 countries outside the European Union.

Vodafone changed its international charges in 2017, making its monthly contract customers be charged £6 per day when using their phone in 60 countries abroad, including the US, Canada, and Russia – even if only one text message is sent.

Customers’ complained and Ofcom revealed it was concerned that Vodafone’s communication had not been clear.

In response to Ofcom’s concerns, Vodafone sent another text message to its customers giving them 30 days to leave their contract.
