In Malaysia a data breach which leaked on to the dark web saw customer data of more than 46 million mobile phone subscribers.
The information leaked: mobile numbers, unique phone serial numbers and home addresses. Some commercial websites were also stolen.
According to the BBC, the hacker was trying to sell private customer information from at least 12 Malaysian mobile operators: Maxis, DiGi, Altel, Celcom, Enabling Asia, Friendimobile, MerchantTradeAsia, PLDT. RedTone, TuneTalk, Umobile and XOX.
A huge amount of personal data was also stolen from: Malaysian Medical Council, Malaysian Medical Association, Academy of Medicine Malaysia, Malaysian Housing Loan Applications, Malaysian Dental Association and National Specialist Register of Malaysia.
Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) are investigating the breach.
