The European Commission and the German Federal Cartel office received a letter of complaint from Russian security software maker Kaspersky Lab against Microsoft on Tuesday.
Kaspersky Lab says that Microsoft is making it difficult for other software security vendors by distributing its own Defender anti-virus software for Windows operating systems.
On Tuesday, Microsoft said in a statement that it had not violated any laws, and that the anti-virus software was built into Windows to protect users.

Microsoft offered to have a meeting with Kaspersky several months ago to address issues, which has not yet taken place.
“Microsoft’s primary objective is to keep customers protected,” said Microsoft in an emailed statement.
“We are confident that the security features of Windows 10 comply with competition laws. We will answer any questions regulators may have,” it added.
