The software company introduced the new technology at CES 2019 in Las Vegas.
Their new software uses AI machine learning and behavioral analytics to track down, analyze and flag users who are using their Netflix accounts in more than one location.
It then analyzes the data to determine whether or not if a password has been shared more than once. If information has been shared on more than occasion, the software will then pass that information onto the provider.
The company also notes that if passwords are being sold to multiple users, accounts could be terminated, WFLA and CNN reported.
According to a recent video entertainment survey conducted by Magid, 26% of post-millennials aged 21 and younger share their account details with other people.
The company claims that the number of people sharing their details on a regular basis has cost the pay-to-watch industry billions.
“Casual credentials sharing is becoming too expensive to ignore. Our new solution gives operators the ability to take action,” said Synamedia chief performance officer, Jean-Marc Racine.
“Many casual users will be happy to pay an additional fee for a premium, shared service with a greater number of concurrent users. It’s a great way to keep honest people honest while benefiting from an incremental revenue stream.”
The company said that their new software is already being tested by a number of pay-TV operators.
