Symantec discovers rogue apps in Google Play

Symantec recently discovered seven previously removed rogue apps in Google Play.

The American software company found the rogue apps by using a different publisher and app name.

The app titles impersonated as productivity apps and used official Google imagery to hide its origins which pushes ads and scams websites after four hours of embedding itself.

To prevent this from happening, developers could pay a registration fee so if caught submitting an app with malware they are banned.

Despite this, developers could always reregister with a different publisher and app name.

Nevertheless, a registration fee could help prevent malware as it would cost developers within financial restraints to hack.
