Google ‘violates’ Microsoft’s policies

Yesterday, Google published a Chrome app in Microsoft Windows Store, violating Microsoft’s policies by directing users to download a link that installs Chrome.

The Verge believes Google created this installer app to prevent fake Chrome apps that can be found in the Windows Store.

Microsoft Windows web applications must use JavaScript and HTML engines provided by Windows 10, while Google Chrome uses its own search engine.

“We have removed the Google Chrome Installer App from Microsoft Store, as it violates our Microsoft Store policies,” said a Microsoft spokesperson to The Verge.

“We welcome Google to build a Microsoft Store browser app compliant with our Microsoft Store policies.”
